Writers Note
I know it's a little late but this is just a short story for Valentine's Day. As the title says, it's based on the anime/manga Kuroshitsuji. It will be a surprise who my OC will end up with.
Name: Lulu
The night air was cold and frosty. The stars in the sky twinkled like little golden sparkles falling down ones hand. The moon was a large orb that brought light to the streets of London. Usually all of these things would have captured Prince Soma's eye but not tonight. What captured his attention was a beautiful voice that was faint but rang out onto the streets. Hearing those notes being played out he followed it, not caring if Agni was following or not. Twisting and turning around corners he came across a small café that smelled of coffee and chocolate. A small breeze blew by ruffling his hair. From not far away on the stage stood a young fair woman with curly blond hair and sky blue twinkling eyes. She rang out a beautiful melody that would have captured any person's ears and heart. Her 'm' shaped lips were in the shape of a big O while she sang.
Prince Soma hadn't noticed that he had walked into the café until he was greeted by a servant who asked if he would like to sit in a booth or a table with chairs. Prince Soma gave no reply and looked back up at her. She saw the tiny movement he made and looked in his direction. Their eyes met and she smiled warmly at him while still singing. He didn't know what sort of feelings that were moving around in him and he asked the goddess Kali to stop his heart from pounding against his chest. He could feel his cheeks burn while they turned a light pink. He would never forget that night when he met the beautiful moon girl.
---
Waking up, Prince Soma finds himself back in his room at the Phantomhive estate.
"Prince Soma, time to get up!" He heard his butler and loyal friend Agni yell while opening up the curtains. Prince Soma only looked at Agni and gave a heavy sigh. Agni knew what was wrong with him and decided to try and cheer him up.
"Let's go down stairs, I'll make you something to eat for breakfast." Agni said while smiling at him.
On the way down to the dining room, Prince Soma acted sluggish and was giving off the end of the world type of aura. Agni started to worry about him and decided to ask the professionals.
Going to the kitchen he finds Mey-Rin grabbing the glass plates to set up the dining table, Finny peeling potatoes, and Snake making a batter for pancakes. All looking up to see who had walked in gave a cheerful smile to Agni.
"Hey Agni!" They all said in unison while at the end of Snakes sentence he said, "said Oscar". Looking at all of them greeting him like family, he cleared his throat and spoke loudly with a little distress.
"Prince Soma is in love with a woman who sings in a café and seems to be in a depressing mood. I need help with cheering him up." They all just stared at him dumbfounded. Then Finny scratching his head and said, "Well tell him to just go confess his feelings to her. That's at least what I remember from watching Romeo and Juliet at the theatres." Mey-Rin countered a little at this.
"He shouldn't just go up to her. He should do it on a full moon in a garden and make it all romantic." Mey-Rin and Finny started to argue about how Prince Soma should tell her while Snake and Agni just stayed on the sides watching them. Snake looking up at Agni gave a small sigh.
"Maybe you should go talk to Smile (Ciel) says Oscar." Snake said. This idea hadn't struck Agni until that second. He knew that Ciel and Sebastian were very busy but this was an emergency. If they didn't find a way to cheer up Prince Soma; he would fall in the pits of despair and no long remember who he was like last time when he was younger and a girl said she hated him. He had become practically a zombie and only wanted to drink goat milk. That thought of the Prince in that condition terrified him. Before he departed the kitchen he noticed Bard wasn't in the room.
"Where's Chief Bard?" Agni asked Snake. Snake looked at him and said that Bard had left to get groceries for tonight's dinner. Usually Sebastian went out to buy the groceries but maybe Bard wanted to show Sebastian what he could do. If that was the case, Agni would cheer him on!
After Prince Soma had finished his breakfast he gave out another heavy sigh. He didn't even notice Agni pick him up, put him over one of this shoulders and race to Ciel's office.
Ciel could already here the footsteps of those foreigners racing down his hallways. With a grunt he watched as the door to his office was slammed into the wall making a large 'BANG' sound. In came in Agni with Prince Soma dangling like a dead person over his shoulder.
"Young master Ciel! You have to help me with Prince Soma's love problem!" Agni then told his story about Prince Soma meeting the girl in the café and how he was depressed now after not being able to confess to her. Ciel was partially listening while his main focus was on reading documents on a murder scene that he would have to figure out later. After Agni had finished his story, Prince Soma gave out another long heavy sigh. The aura he gave off was making everyone in the room uncomfortable. Ciel then gave a grunt putting down his papers and letting his cheek rest on his hand.
"Isn't Valentine's Day coming up Sebastian" Ciel asked his most trustworthy butler. Sebastian only grinned.
"Valentine's Day is tomorrow. I'm guessing Lady Elizabeth will be coming over that day as well." Ciel giving him the 'oh great' look and Agni and Prince Soma giving him a questioning look just created more problems for Sebastian. Sebastian looked over at the two foreign men and explained what they did on Valentine's Day. The day where you give chocolate, flowers, and other gifts to the ones you love and/or like. At this Prince Soma got all pumped up and excited. His energy bar was full again.
"I know what we're doing today Agni! Let's go get chocolate and flowers!" Prince Soma yelled only to be stopped by Sebastian.
"It's better if you hand make the chocolates and we can cut a few of our red roses in the garden. Also are you prepared to confess to her?" Sebastian asked. Prince Soma stopped in his tracks a little dumbfounded. He really didn't know if he was ready to confess to her his feelings. What if she turned him down! Prince Soma went to go sulk in a corner when suddenly Agni put his hand on Prince Soma's shoulder encouraging him to go for it. From that day until tomorrow they would be getting Prince Soma ready to tell the girl he liked that he liked her.
First was the chocolate, Bard had come back with a few bags of groceries that he put away. He noticed that Sebastian was teaching Prince Soma how to make chocolate hearts. Agni noticing Chief Bard watching them intently asked him what he was going to prepare for dinner tonight. Bard looked at Agni with an uh-oh kind of expression and told him that he had gone out to buy groceries for Sebastian to cook dinner. Agni didn't know what to say. He had noticed Chief Bard had put a bouquet of bright colored flowers in a vase in the center of the kitchens cutting table.
"What are those for?" Agni asked. Bard turned back in his direction.
"Well since Valentine's Day is coming up," Bard explained, "I thought we might put a few decorations in the kitchen." Agni nodded his head and they both watched as Prince Soma poured the hot melted chocolate into heart molds. Jumping up and down, Prince Soma had made chocolates!
The next thing he knew was that he was given a bouquet of flowers and a card from Sebastian with a confession written on it. Agni pretended to be the lady in the café while Prince Soma read off the card memorizing it.
The day had finally ended and Sebastian went to the kitchen to prepare the lemon custards for tomorrows afternoon's tea when he suddenly heard someone cooking in the kitchen. Carefully peering around the kitchens door he saw Bard with a cook book and a bunch of utensils spread across the counters. Bards expression was serious and a little annoyed. Every so often he would scratch his head and put a few ingredients into a bowl.
"Oh my," Sebastian whispered to himself with a small grin lying across his lips. He decided that he would make the small desserts early in the morning and started down the Phantomhive hallway back to his room.
---
Valentines Day had finally arrived and Prince Soma was pumped. He jumped out of bed and got ready for his meeting with the moon lady at the café. Agni just followed as quickly as he could while Prince Soma ran around his room and down the stairs to greet Ciel.
Ciel was eating waffles and sausage out in the garden. The sun was out and felt warm against the back of his hands. Hearing Prince Soma hum to himself, Ciel felt his weight fall across his back.
"Morning Ciel!" Prince Soma greeted him with a hug. Ciel didn't have any time for this. Elizabeth would be arriving soon and he had to go get ready for her arrival. Prince Soma just had a long happy puppy grin on his face and spun around.
"Today is the day when I confess to her!" He yelled. The Goddess Kali must have blessed him today because good aura just radiated off of him. He just kept chatting with Ciel about how he would talk to her and why he loved her. All the while Sebastian and Agni just stared at him. Ciel felt like his ears were about to fall off. Agni smiled in amusement until Sebastian spoke up.
"Prince Soma, I don't mean to disappoint you but the café that she works at opens in the evening around six so until then you're just going to have to wait." Sebastian said. Prince Soma fell to the ground face first. His happy attitude ruined by Sebastian's words became that of a ghost.
He had no choice but to wait until this evening. In the mean time Ciel was busy with hanging out with Elizabeth while everyone else put up the Valentine's Day decorations except for Bard who said he wasn't feeling too good.
---
It was finally time to leave the mansion and go see her. Each step Prince Soma took made his heart beat faster and faster. He thought he was going to faint with all the blood pumping to his brain. The sun was setting and the street lights were turning on. Sebastian, Ciel, and Agni trailed behind Prince Soma while they watch all of his emotions unfold.
"Do you think he's going to be alright?" Ciel whispered to Sebastian who just looked down at the young master. He then gave a smile and whispered back.
"I have a feeling everything's going to turn out for the best." With that Prince Soma rounded the corner where the café was only to bolt back running into everyone.
"What's wrong my Prince?" Agni asked. Prince Soma looked up at his dear friend and saw all the trust Agni had in him.
"I'm just a little nervous that's all." Prince Soma straightened up, box of chocolates and roses in hand.
"Wish me luck you guys." Prince Soma talked back over his shoulder. All of these people were cheering him on even if Ciel was looking bored. Ciel's eyes told him everything. Again rounding the corner, he could see her right in the café wearing a blue and black dress with pearl's dangling down her arms and around her chest. She sang a peaceful relaxing song on stage that made everyone in the café feel at ease. Prince Soma was only ten steps away from the door, nine, eight, seven, si-. He then came to a halt. Inside he could see Bard watching the women sing with an expression he had never seen on him before. He was smiling up at the young lady with caring eyes. On the table where he sat was a rectangular box full of milk chocolates and the bouquet of flowers that he had bought at the super market.
When the lady had finished singing she looked down at Bard with eyes like stars. She gave him a wide happy smile that any boy would melt at. She jumped off the stage and walked towards him to only get a great loving bear hug from Bard. He smiled and so did she. All of this passing Prince Somas eyes was like seeing two blue birds leaving the red bird alone in the woods. He wanted her so much but he knew that she had already chosen the man that she loved. Being mature is tough; Prince Soma thought expressing a sad smile. But at least he knew that she was in good hands with someone he knew he could trust. Walking back to his friends he saw a little girl wearing a red dress with red pigtails in her hair skipping around, her parents not too far behind her.
Finally deciding what to do next he walked up to her, kneeled down and looked directly into her emerald eyes. She only gasped a little seeing as how a stranger wearing weird clothes had just walked up to her.
"What's your name little girl?" Prince Soma asked with a warm smile on his face. Her parents watching him decided that he wasn't trying to abduct their child and decided to just watch and talk to one another. The girl looking back at her parents and being given the ok decided to tell him.
"Lulu" She whispered shyly. He only smiled at her. Prince Soma introducing himself gave her the flowers and the chocolates. She only looked at him with confusion then with a dazzling smile.
"Thank you!" She said smiling, her cheeks a little rosy from the snow that had suddenly started to fall down even though it was spring time. The warm smile she gave him was enough. Who said you had to give presents to just the ones you loved? Couldn't Valentine's Day be a day to give to others and make them happy? What he did next made her parents a bit weary and made her a little flustered. Prince Soma landed a kiss on her cheek. Lulu gasped at this and gently pressed her hand to where he had kissed her.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Lulu," Prince Soma said before heading back towards his friends where Agni was crying, feeling so proud of his prince and Ciel looking a bit agitated.
"Like I said," Sebastian looked down at his young master who only felt a little annoyance after hearing his butler talk.
"Everything turned out for the best."
